Planning estimate only. Department calls, travel, meal timing, contract terms, child performers, stunts, location access, and local rules can require different call times.

Build call times from the work that happens first

General crew call

The crew estimate subtracts breakfast and setup time from first shot. Enter zero for breakfast when it is not part of the planned pre-call window.

Principal cast call

The cast estimate subtracts hair, makeup, wardrobe, and an additional ready buffer from first shot. Department and performer calls may still differ.

Estimated wrap

Wrap is estimated from the general crew call and workday length. The actual schedule, meal timing, overtime, and delays determine the real wrap.

How to use this estimate

  1. 1Choose a realistic first-shot time based on location access, daylight, cast, and the shooting schedule.
  2. 2Enter the time required for breakfast, crew setup, cast preparation, and a practical ready buffer.
  3. 3Use the result as a starting point, then confirm each department's pre-call and the applicable turnaround requirements.

Common questions

Is general crew call the same for every department?

Not always. Camera, lighting, art, locations, transport, hair, makeup, wardrobe, catering, and other departments may need different pre-calls.

Can the call time fall on the previous day?

Yes. When the required preparation extends before midnight, the result is labeled as the previous day.

Does this create a call sheet?

No. It estimates a few timing anchors. A complete call sheet also needs the schedule, locations, weather, contacts, parking, safety information, meals, hospitals, and department notes.
